New Legislation, SB 21-069 "License Plate Expiration on Change of Ownership Act of 2021" goes into effect January 1, 2022
With the new law, when Coloradoans sell or otherwise dispose of their vehicle, they will no longer be able to transfer their old plates to their new vehicle. License Plates will expire upon transfer of ownership. Customers who wish to maintain the same plate configuration will need to apply for a personalized plate in order to do so.
