San Miguel County Search and Rescue (SAR) covers approximately 1,200 square miles, ranging from high desert at an altitude of 5,000 feet to high alpine at an altitude in excess of 14,000 feet. SAR covers everything from lost hikers, technical rock rescues, helicopter extractions, and avalanche rescues.
Our organization has recently fallen out of compliance with IRS tax-exempt reporting guidelines but we are working to get back into compliance as soon as possible. Until that time, your donations to San Miguel Search and Rescue may be made to San Miguel County. SAR is a division under the governmental unit of San Miguel County, Colorado.
