Emergency Operations Plan
The purpose of the San Miguel County Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) is to provide general guidelines and principles for planning, managing, and coordinating the overall response and recovery activities of San Miguel County before, during and after major events. This includes major events that affect unincorporated areas of the county. Incorporated areas of the county are highly encouraged to update their existing emergency plans regularly. The EOP base plan:
- Identifies the roles, responsibilities and actions of county departments and offices, participating agencies and special districts during the response to emergencies and disasters.
- Provides a framework for coordination and integration of emergency plans of municipalities and special districts as well as working with state and federal agencies.
- Establishes a system for coordinating the five phases of Emergency Management: Prevention, Protection, Response, Recovery and Mitigation.
The EOP was adopted by the San Miguel County Board of County Commissioners on June 8, 2022.
Community Wildfire Protection Plan
San Miguel County CWPP 2008 (SMC CWPP) is the result of a County-wide planning effort that included extensive field data gathering, compilation of existing documents and GIS data, and scientifically-based analyses to guide recommendations designed to reduce the threat of wildfire related damages to values at risk.
