September 21, 2016 – (Telluride, CO) – The San Miguel Sheriff’s Office has been notified that a man with an extensive criminal history and registered sex offender absconded from a work-release program Tuesday and was then spotted in the Norwood area Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. Lloyd Allen Beard, 48 years-old, is wanted by the San Miguel Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Corrections. Mr. Beard is a registered sex offender with the Sheriff’s Office and was most recently being held on parole violations at a community corrections facility in Montrose.
A parole officer told the Sheriff’s Office that yesterday (September 20th) Mr. Beard cut off his ankle-monitoring bracelet while working and is believed to have hitchhiked to Norwood, which is his last known residence. He is also known to frequent the Telluride area.
Sheriff Bill Masters said although Mr. Beard is not considered armed and dangerous, he needs to be apprehended. “Mr. Beard has a proven record of being a danger to the citizens of Colorado, he’s a sex offender, and he needs to be caught before he commits even more crimes.”
If anyone spots Mr. Beard, who has blonde hair and a slender build, please contact San Miguel Country Sheriff’s Office (970-728-1911) or your local law enforcement.
Norwood is approximately 30 miles northwest of Telluride.
