Man Found Dead in Norwood Home from Apparent Self Inflicted Gunshot

February 29, 2016 -- (Norwood, CO) – A Norwood man was found dead in his home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday night. The man’s wife told San Miguel County Sheriff’s Deputies she heard a single gunshot at approximately 9:40pm from another room in their home and found her husband fatally shot in their bed.
Donnie R. Jones, 65 of Norwood is believed to have shot himself; an investigation is pending, however at this time, no foul play is suspected.
It is the second death involving an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in San Miguel County in less than one week. Friday, a man was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound off Tomboy Road near Telluride.
“We extend our deepest sympathy to the grieving families,” Sheriff Bill Masters said. He encourages anyone thinking about ending his or her life to seek immediate help. “No matter how much you hurt, please reach out and talk to someone.”
