The Ilium Observation deck is located near the intersection of Ilium Road (County Road 63L) and the Sunshine Mesa Road. The deck was built in 2020 using repurposed timbers from a historic bridge that had been used by the Rio Grande Southern Railroad as part of a wye at that location.
Reservations
The deck may be reserved for weddings and other small events up to 25 people. There is no use fee but a refundable $100 damage deposit is required with each reservation. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance of the requested date. Checks should be made payable to San Miguel County.
There are NO bathrooms or trash facilities on site - reservations over two hours require the applicant to rent a portable toilet.
